SnOasis will be the first development of its kind in the world. It comprises not only the world's largest (415m) indoor snow slope (there are two slopes), but ice skating, cross country skiing, inline skating, bobsleigh and many other related activities. SnOasis will be the training base for the Great Britain Ski Team.
Furthermore, SnOasis incorporates significant holiday accommodation within the 300 acre site. This includes 350 chalets, a 350 bed 4 star hotel and 100 apartments. It will be a destination resort and is expected to generate 650,000 independent user visits per year.
It will be complemented by leisure and conference facilities, 30 retail units, convenience store, food court and many other facilities.
The development, which will take 3 years to construct, is expected to draw from throughout the UK and well into the near continent too. Transport links through Stansted and Felixstowe/Harwich are excellent, whilst the Eurostar and Crossrail rail links will be very important. A new rail station will be constructed on the Norwich/Ipswich/London Liverpool Street mainline, adjacent to the development. Economic Appraisals by Locum Destination Consulting, DTZ Consulting and Grant Thornton predict that SnOasis will give a major economic boost to the Eastern Region.
SnOasis will be open to both stayers and day visitors and is expected to generate 3500 construction jobs and 1800 full time jobs.
